PSA wins Dammam terminal concession

A joint-venture company, Saudi Global Ports (SGP), formed between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and PSA International has been awarded the concession to develop, operate and manage the second container terminal in the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam.

The port is the largest Gulf port in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a key gateway on the Arabian Gulf.
The SGP terminal will be equipped with the latest equipment and technology to transform Dammam into a preferred port of call serving the fast growing economy of the Kingdom and the regional economies of the Arabian Peninsula.
Located close to Saudi Arabia’s economic centre and capital city Riyadh, the port is linked by an existing railway network and excellent highways to the rest of the country.
When fully built up and developed, the new SGP terminal will have a quay length of 1,200 metres and twelve quay cranes, with a design capacity of 1.8 million TEU per year.

PSA International participates in 29 port projects in seventeen countries across Asia, Europe and the Americas, and handled more than 65 million TEU of containers worldwide in 2010.
