New core shareholder Qatar Airways improves Cargolux’ position as independent provider of global air freight transport

Cargolux Airlines (Luxemburg) announced the closing of the reorganisation of its shareholder strucuture last week. The new core shareholder Qatar Airways improves the airline’s position as independent provider of transport services in global air freight liner traffic. Qatar Airways’ Doha hub also gives the company access to an enhanced route network in the Far East and to growth regions in Africa and Asia.

In the new shareholder structure of Cargolux Airlines Luxair with 43.4 per cent and Qatar Airways with 35 per cent are the main players. The financial institutes Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat (BCEE) and Société Nationale de Crédit et d’Investissement (SNCI) are holding 10.9 per cent and 10.7 per cent of the shares, respectively. On 19 September a new era begins with the Luxemburg cargo airline. Taking over the first Boeing 747-8F, the fleet gains an aircraft type that offers a maximum payload of 134.9 tons. Maximum range when fully loaded amounts to 8,130 kilometres.
