Quehenberger and Continental to deepen cooperation in the CIS

New warehousing site of Quehenberger Logistics in Novosibirsk to serve as distribution centre for Continental tyres in Siberia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

With the construction of a regional distribution centre in Novosibirsk, Quehenberger Logistics is expanding its cooperation with the German tyre manufacturer Continental. The warehouse, which supplies Siberia and the Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, has 5000 m² of storage space and is now put into service. It supplements the Continental central warehouse in Moscow which has been taken over by Quehenberger in mid-2012. Tyres of all dimensions (car, truck/light truck, industry) with a total weight of about 2,000 tonnes are stored in an area of 10,000 m², picked according to orders and distributed throughout Russia.

At the same time, Quehenberger is responsible for the logistics pertaining to the new Continental tyre factory in Kaluga 170 km south-west of the Russian capital. Industrial machinery and consignments of excessive dimensions are being transported from the EU region into the Russian automobile cluster until the end of July 2013. Furthermore, the logistics provider organises sea freight consignments from the US and China. When the factory is complete, tyres will be transported to the central warehouse in Moscow from there.

As to tyre logistics Quehenberger Logistics is responsible for storage, transportation and value added services of approximately 800,000 Continental tyres throughout Russia and the neighbouring countries. “This expansion is once again demonstrating our market leadership in Russian automotive logistics,” Klaus Hrazdira, Managing Director responsible for the CEE countries, says about the intensive cooperation. The Salzburg-based company was awarded as the ‘logistics provider of the year‘ in Russia in 2011. Turnover in Russia has doubled in the past year.

As a medium sized provider of quality services for transport management, network and contract logistics, Quehenberger Logistics Quehenberger Logistics has currently 2,030 Mitarbeiteremployees at 85 sites in 17 countries.
