Port of Straubing-Sand: Raiffeisenbank Straubing establishes a trimodal site with an investment in the middle of the single-digit million range
Raiffeisenbank Straubing eG sets the course for the future of their goods business. A new agricultural trading centre joins the previous agricultural operations Aiterhofen and Ittling at one site in the port of Straubing. In addition to harvest collection they will offer also fertilisers and pesticides as well as other agricultural products on an area of about 14,000 m² in order to offer customers a full product range in the agricultural sector.
Sales of Raiffeisen Straubing has been rising continuously in recent years to EUR 35 million by now. Thus also a powerful technical equipment is required to to be able to reliably and efficiently serve the customers in the agricultural sector – mainly from the regions Gäuboden and the Bavarian Forest. For this reason, Raiffeisenbank Straubing has decided to make a significant investment in the midddle of the single-digit million range for the future of their goods business.
With the tri-modal port of Straubing, a site was found at the address Wiener Straße, which offers ideal logistic conditions and further synergies for the new agricultural center. The port access – an innovation of the previous business model of the range of goods – will be implemented in cooperation with the direct northern neighbor, the Bayernhof GmbH. The cooperation includes among other things grain silos of the cooperative which will be built on the site of Bayernhof, a producer group. Both companies thus secure space for future growth.
Straubing-Sand is a trimodal industrial and logistic site of 220 hectares in total, that had been established in the frame of an intercommunal cooperation between the city of Straubing, the Landkreis Straubing-Bogen and the municipality of Aiterhofen. With annual throughput capacity of about 4 million tonnes it is the most efficient cargo distribution centre of Lower Bavaria.
