Rail Cargo Group invests into transport booking system
Rail Cargo Group obtains VCÖ mobility award for development of an innovative, future-oriented capacity booking system
Rail Cargo Group and six more European cargo railways are investing into the development of a booking system for transportations, with a focus on single wagon traffic. Thanks to this innovative, future-oriented concept the enterprise obtained the VCÖ mobility award on September 24.
The web-based tool allows customers to call real-time information on the transport route and date. The Rail Cargo Group profits from optimised planning and capacity utilisation through volume booking in due time. This enables the enterprise to increase flexibility and quality of the transport, as well as the customers’ benefit.
Rail Cargo Group, the ÖBB division in charge of cargo transport, has 9,000 employees generating turnover of EUR 2.3 billion. The company’s core business is rail-based logistics services in 15 countries in Central and Southeast Europe, with the key markets Austria and Hungary.
