Rail Cargo Group starts Moskau Rail Express

New intermodal product of Rail Cargo Group provides regular transport for container shipments between Italy, Austria and Russia

Under the title “Moskau Rail Express“ Rail Cargo Group and JSC TransContainer have launched a new intermodal product for container shipments between Italy, Austria and Russia. The Villach-Dobra-Moskau-route is operated with two weekly departures on the rotation between Vienna and Dobra and one Dobra-Moscow rotation.

At the Villach terminal cargo volume from Italy is consolidated to one train. Following a short stopover at Vienna’s central shunting yard where more goods can be added, the containers are loaded and consolidated to an intermodal train in Dobra, Slovakia. The containers are then forwarded on Russian broad gauge to Moscow. Customs clearance, trucking, storage, loading and unloading of containers is included in the service.

„This new intermodal relation provides cargo consolidation in Villach, Vienna and Dobra which is ideally adjusted to customers’ requirements, and ensures a secure transport chain. In addition this regular service allows long-term shifting of cargo volume transported between Russia and Western Europe to the railway“, Rail Cargo Group informs in a mailing.
