Railpool: TRAXX fleet grows to 217 units

Railpool, one of the leading rail vehicle leasing companies in Europe, has placed an order for the supply of 20 Bombardier TRAXX electric locomotives. The contracts include an option for 20 additional vehicles. The orders have a list price of a total value of about EUR 74 million euros. The first locomotives will be delivered in the second half of 2019.

Torsten Lehnert, CEO of Railpool: “With this latest order, the fleet of TRAXX locomotives is growing to 217 units. Our first TRAXX vehicle was delivered in 2009 – since then we have had very good experience in performance, traction, efficiency and reliability with our TRAXX fleet. Based on this experience, we would like to offer these additional locomotives for the main European freight corridors linking several major European ports. ”

The Bombardier TRAXX 3 platform is the most advanced platform of four-axle locomotives in Europe. Their three models, TRAXX AC3, TRAXX MS3 and TRAXX DC3, all feature an optional Last Mile function, a supporting diesel engine to bridge non-electrified sections. TRAXX locomotives are the most successful platform in Europe with more than 2,300 units sold.
