RCA: Reorientation in the universal forwarding segment

Streamlining and restructuring of activities and group divisions yields first fruit at Rail Cargo Austria

Rail Cargo Austria is rethinking its universal forwarding-business segment. The activities managed by the Express-Interfracht group will be concentrated on services in the market segment of rail-based logistics as well as on full – and less than full load transport on the road. They will take action to consolidate their position in this market, emphasises CEO Mag. Andreas Fuchs in his speech at the “2. Niederösterreichischen Logistiktag“ (Second Lower Austrian Day of Logistics). “We will reduce our commitment to air/ocean freight forwarding and warehousing in the future”, he added.

Rail Cargo Austria is implementing a turnaround program. Before 2014 processes and service concepts are optimised with the target of all companies of the group showing positive results, Andreas Fuchs disclosed. In the first six months of 2011 the operative result turned from a decline of EUR 44.6 million (January to June 2010) to + EUR 2.6 million. Utilisation per train has improved by 6 per cent. Turnover grew 5.9 per cent to EUR 1.245 billion.
