RCA thinned out its wagon load offer

Rail Cargo Austria cancels 135 stations from its offering of scheduled handling stations

With immediate effect Rail Cargo Austria (RCA) implements its in November announced thinned out offering of scheduled handling stations for wagon load transport. In the course of further streamlining of production processes and structures they completely stopped serving 59 national railway stations from 12 December. 76 more railway stations („B2“) will only be served on basis of special agreements. The management explains this step as a consequence of the small cargo amounts combined with a great operational effort that could be observed in the past years and is also expected for the future. Thus it was impossible to meet economic minimum criteria for the railway as a transport system, they state in a paper.

The cancelled operation points affect among other stations the following railway stations: Bad Gastein, Blindenmarkt, Grafenschlag, Gröbming, Groß Schweinbarth, Hartberg, Langenlois, Marchegg, Mattersburg, Mureck, Nenzing, Payerbach-Reichenau, Salzburg Aigen, Waidhofen/Thaya, Völs and Wien Nord.

For the 76 handling station of the „B2“ class RCA will bring to account special service freight charges stipulated by the cargo tariff from 1 January 2011. Accordingly EUR 150 will be accounted for every delivered or collected loaded wagon. The special service freight charge will be accounted for four wagons at minimum per operation.
