RCG intensifies sales of national single-wagon transport

Apart from their ongoing international expansion, the Rail Cargo Group (RCG) will launch an Austrian-wide sales campaign with a focus on national customers in the second quarter of 2018. ÖBB’s freight transport division presents the entire range of end-to-end logistics services – from booking inquiry to delivery to the final location.

The service adresses potential customers in all regions of Austria, operating in various industry segments – wood, paper, building materials, consumer goods, steel, raw materials, automotive, agricultural, mineral oil, chemicals and waste disposal. The aim is to convince companies of the advantages of railway transport and the service portfolio of RCG.

In doing so, RCG is deliberately promoting the marketing of single-wagon transport as a measure to increase the transport volume shifted from road to rail. This means that small volumes are combined in individual wagons at collection points to form large transport units, thus offering end-to-end logistics solutions for all sectors.

“Land transport continues to be in demand by Austrian industry, which is why we are investing in our sales in this segment. Among other things, this includes capacity management, booking and pricing systems, which offer customers increased transparency and flexibility,” reads a press release by the Rail Cargo Group.

Against this background, the group renewed its cooperation with Forst Holz Papier last year, and ensured wood transport on the environmentally friendly rail until 2020. In addition, the dairy products of a Carinthian dairy have been transported by rail since recently.

With a rail transport share of more than 30 per cent, Austria is a leader in the European Union when it comes to modal split. This reflects the market offering of more than 400 control sections, including the personal presence of logistics specialists for national and international rail transport. This range of services as a backbone for single-wagon transport is not only a unique selling proposition for the Rail Cargo Group, but also an essential factor for the Austrian industry.
