The Carphone Warehouse awards a five-year contract to Wincanton; BMW awards a UK contract to Groupe CAT. Wincanton has secured a new five-year contract to deliver transport solutions to serve The Carphone Warehouse’s 800 high street stores throughout the UK. Operating from The Carphone Warehouse’s hub in Wednesbury and associated outbases, Wincanton will deliver directly to stores across the country. This contract follows Wincanton’s successful partnership with The Carphone Warehouse’s joint venture partner, Best Buy. Wincanton was awarded a storage and distribution contract with Best Buy Europe in March this year. Groupe CAT has won a major new long-term contract as the technical services provider for BMW Group UK at two sites: Thorne, near Doncaster and Oxford. CAT UK will be responsible for the receipt, inspection and preparation of all BMW Group UK company cars and the re-instatement to BMW Approved Used Car standards on return. Preparation and accessory fitments to many dealer cars, fleet/direct sales and other special programs are also included for BMW and MINI branded cars, as well as compound management, truck load preparation and dispatch.
