Sika awards three-year contract to DHL; Marlow Foods awards six-year contract to Norbert Dentressangle.

DHL Supply Chain has won a new contract with Sika Ltd, to carry out warehouse and inventory management at the company’s UK distribution centre.

The three-year contract involves around 50,000 orders per year of Sika’s speciality chemicals for construction and industry.

DHL will consolidate four warehouses into a single centre to provide storage at Dunstable, close to the Sika manufacturing facility. A management team operating from the warehouse will act as a single point of contact for Sika, helping to centralise planning and manage transport suppliers more flexibly.

The contract will deliver continuous process improvement, increased operational efficiency and reduced cost.

DHL will also implement safety processes and training using a phased implementation plan with proven methodology that removes risk, supported by detailed contingency plans.

Norbert Dentressangle has secured a new frozen warehousing and distribution contract with Marlow Foods.

Norbert Dentressangle is providing storage for around 20,000 pallets and is responsible for the receipt, handling and distribution of around 2,300 pallets each week from its shared-user cold stores at Grimsby and Spalding.

The company is also providing re-pack services for around 1,100 tonnes of bulk product per year.

In addition to the national distribution of finished product into retailers‘ RDCs, Norbert Dentressangle transports bulk, intermediate and finished product between Marlow’s three manufacturing facilities at Stokesely, Methwold and Billingham and various third-party co-manufacturing locations.

In support of the contract, Norbert Dentressangle has invested more than £3 million in systems and equipment, including fourteen new tractor units and 24 reefer trailers.

Prior to Norbert Dentressangle’s appointment, storage and distribution was handled by two third party providers.
