Rhenus celebtrates its 100-years-jubilee

100 years after foundation Rhenus provides solutions for the management of complex supply chains and innovative value-added services

“We see ourselves as a value-adding partner for our customers. Thus we analyse highly complex logistic processes and optimise them through individual solutions for procurement, production and distribution.“  Based on these guiding lines Rhenus AG & Co KG with its headquarters in Holzwickede near Dortmund is celebrating its 100-years jubilee these days.

On 13 November the „Badische Actiengesellschaft für Rheinschiffahrt und Seetransport" and „Rheinschiffahrts Actiengesellschaft" founded a joint enterprise. They selected the latin word for the river Rhine as a name – Rhenus. The company was then registered as Rhenus Transport GmbH headquartered in Frankfurt in the commercial register. At the same time the first branches are established in Mannheim, Mainz, Antwerp and Rotterdam.

In the late autumn 2012 Rhenus presents itself as a globally operating logistics group, generating turnover of more than EUR 3.3 billion and more than 19,000 employees. According to the company the business divisions Contract Logistics, Freight Logistics, Port Logistics and Public Transport represent the management of complex supply chains and innovative value-added services. Rhenus operates about 3 million m² of storage and logistics surface at 350 locations worldwide, and disposes of about 7,000 trucks per day.
