Rhenus group expands its range of services for materials flow logistics by taking over the wood logistics specialist Brenner (Plaidt/Germany)

Being subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities, the Rhenus SE & Co. KG takes over the Brenner group based in Andernach (Rhineland-Palatinate) as of 1 January 2015. With the acquisition of the specialist for timber logistics, the company expands its service range in the material flow logistics.

All business divisions of the Brenner group with subsidiaries in Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland will be part of the Rhenus Group with the change of the years. The Brenner group will continue to operate as an independent company.

The companies acquired by Rhenus include the Brenner Holding GmbH & Co. KG, the Brenner Holding-Verwaltungs-GmbH, Brenner Internationale Holz- und Spänehandelsgesellschaft mbH, Brenner-Industrieholz-Späne GmbH and Brenner-Schweiz GmbH.

„With the acquisition of Brenner we enhance the service range for our customers geographically. Furthermore, we develop new markets for the transport of wood and its procurement and sales,“ explains Sascha Hähnke, Member of the Management Road at Rhenus Port Logistics.

Brenner has earned a good name in the paper and timber products industry, as well as in the energy and insulation sector. Consisting of more than 80 trucks and 10 wheel loaders the group’s vehicle fleet for handling residual, industrial, and recycled wood and biomass completes the existing product range of Rhenus Logistics in the wood logistics after the acquisition.
