Röhlig acquires South American partner Procargo

Röhlig Logistics has acquired 100 per cent of its premium agent Procargo to reinforce the position in South America

Bremen-based Röhlig Logistics has acquired 100 per cent of its long-standing premium agent Procargo in South America. “South America is one of the major growth regions in the world. We believe that by acquiring 100 per cent of our local partner we have gained a strong position in the market,” says Thomas Hansen, Röhlig CEO Americas/Africa.

Global expansion of the network is an important part of Röhlig’s Strategy 2018. The north-German forwarding company acquired a 50 per cent share of Procargo in 2011, and thus significantly strengthened their presence in the growing South American market. The development so far have confirmed this course: business volume has increased considerably since 2011.

Röhlig has national subsidiaries in Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. With the addition of agent agreements with local partners in further important markets such as Brazil and Columbia, Röhlig has obtained a region-wide presence on the South American continent. Furthermore, the Weiss-Röhlig branch in Miami, USA, serves as a gateway between the South and North American markets.

Röhlig, an owner-managed logistics company, provides services in the segments sea freight, air freight and project logistics for its customers. Established in 1852 in Bremen, the family enterprise has more than 2,000 employees today at 140 locations in 31 countries.
