Röhlig eexpecting a fresh breeze in its partnership with Gebrüder Weiss

2013 business year of the Röhlig logistics company was marked by the re-structuring of their partnership with Gebrüder Weiss

The owner run, Bremen-based logistics company Röhlig has presented its results for the 2013 business year. Hans-Ludger Körner, Röhlig’s Chief Financial Officer, commented: “Given the present conditions, we are pleased with the results over the last year. In 2013, not only were growth rates sluggish in both the global economy and in world trade, but this slow growth was also accompanied by marked currency fluctuations.”

Röhlig returned a gross profit of EUR 111 million in 2013, matching the previous year’s figures; after currency adjustment, however, gross profit rose by EUR 3.8 million. There were similar currency effects evident in sales as well, which amounted to EUR 547 million in 2013. After special effects from the purchase and sale of joint venture interests as well as the negative impact of currency effects, this year’s Euro 16.8 million EBIT was 17.5 per cent above the previous year’s figure.

In the 2013 business year, Bremen-based logistics provider Röhlig instigated key alignments in the corporate structure. the Bremen-based logistics company and its Austrian partner Gebrüder Weiss have recalibrated ownership interests of the joint companies in their cooperation. In future, all companies will continue their activities in their particular markets under the Weiss-Röhlig name. In addition, Röhlig has increased its shares in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay to 100 per cent so that now, including Röhlig Chile, it has five own subsidiaries in South America.

After a weak start, the Röhlig Executive Board is optimistic for the current 2014 business year. “As economies recover, we are leveraging the chances this offers. Re-structuring our partnership with Gebrüder Weiss has also generated new synergies,” said managing partner Thomas W. Herwig. “After a year of consolidation, we aim to achieve moderate growth again in 2014.”

Röhlig is an owner-run logistics enterprise, offering its customers services in the segments of sea freight, air freight, project logistics and supply chain management. Established in 1852 in Bremen the family enterprise has today more than 2,000 emplyoees in 31 countries.
