Russian Railways sets up subsidiary for logistics services
OAO RZD-Logistika is aimed to increase attractiveness of rail freight transport in Russia and complete it by house-house products
The supervisory bord of Russische Eisenbahnen AG (Russian Railways) has signed off the foundation of a subsidiary for logistics services on 26 August. The new company named OAO RZD-Logistika is aimed to improve the attractiveness of rail freight services and gain additional revenue from developing an integrated transport and logistics product (a door-to-door service) by uniting the existing services of Russian Railways into a single logistics chain. “The main tasks of the logistics subsidiary are to organize and market integrated transport and logistical services for the shipment of various types of cargo (including by other means of transport), raise service standards”, Russian Railways writes in a press release. The service portfolio of OAO RZD-Logistika ranges from transport and freight forwarding to customs services and management of delivery chains.
