Savage begins construction of multi-user rail terminal in North Dakota

Savage Companies has started construction on a multi-user rail terminal served by the BNSF Railway in Trenton, North Dakota, bringing delivery of crude oil by rail from the Bakken shale oil formation.

The new Trenton Railport will be designed to bring large-scale rail service to the Bakken Formation with oil-field related materials such as tubular, frac sand and other strategic materials, including the capability to load and ship unit trains of crude oil.

The 270-acre site will include rail infrastructure as well as planned space for oil field material storage, and receiving capability for frac sand and other materials.

Based on current interest levels, and active negotiations, Savage expects to fully subscribe the initial capacity of the Trenton Railport by fall of this year.

In support of its Trenton Railport customers, Savage plans to provide a total service model featuring the providing of railcars, and a complete logistics package.

Scheduled to be operational by Q2 2012, the Trenton Railport will be managed by Savage’s Railway & Industry Solutions Group, which oversees more than fifty specialty rail services and transloading terminals throughout the US.

Savage operates more than forty transload facilities, which specialise in handling a range of chemicals, resins, fuels and other industrial commodities. Savage has 150 operations in 36 US states and five Canadian provinces.
