Schenker set for €20m Chinese automobile expansion
DB Schenker is set to open a 147,000 sq ft logistics centre for distribution of car parts in Shenyang (China) at a cost of more than €20m as part of a partnership with a Chinese firm, subject to regulatory approval from local authorities.
Construction is set to commence in 2015, and Shenyang provides the German firm access to one of the largest centres of the Chinese automobile industry. These proposals seek to further expand DB Schenker’s activity in the region; since 2003 the company has provided freight forwarding services to Shenyang.
Thomas Lieb, chairman of Schenker management board, said: „This joint venture is a further important step on the way to expanding our leading position in contract logistics in China too.
„It is part of our strategy to have a clear presence in the Chinese growth regions and provide top-quality logistics services for our customers all around the world.“
