Schneider + Cie AG (Basel) takes over Glob-Sped AG (Pratteln)

Acquisition of Glob-Sped AG cosolidates position of Schneider + Cie AG (Basel) in traffic to and from Eastern Europe, Germany, the UK and BeNeLux

 

Effective 21 January 2011 Schneider + Co Ltd (Basel) has acquired 100 per cent of Glob-Sped Ltd (Pratteln). This change in ownership is the result of early succession planning at Glob-Sped Ltd and is in the long-term interest of the customers, business partners and employees of both companies. Glob-Sped Ltd with its road haulage traffic to and from Germany, UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and Eastern Europe as well as air and sea traffics fits perfectly with the services offered by the Schneider Group. Together the two companies have a workforce of 250 employees and a yearly turnover of about CHF 150 million (EUR 117 million).

 "The merger of the two companies is based on an industrial logic from which all of our customers can profit”, says Oswald Thüring, founder of Glob-Sped Ltd, who is retiring from the active business life. "Both companies maintain personal contact with customers and attach great importance to simple solutions, precise procedures, short reaction times and in-time fulfilments”, adds Urs Eggenberger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Schneider + Co Ltd.

The forwarding service provider Schneider + Co Ltd was founded in Basel in 1865 and is managed by its owners. The Schneider Group is covering the complete Swiss market with its head office in Basel and branch offices in Zurich, Zurich-Airport and Geneva. In addition Schneider has a strong presence in France (Paris, Lyon, St. Louis) and has branch offices in the Netherlands and the USA. The main activities are groupage cargo transport for well-known Swiss and international customers. Schneider + Cie is a leading player groupage road services to/from France.
