Secure jobs at BLG Logistics Group

Stable demand for retail logistics of BLG Logistics 

Being well positioned in its three core segments – automotive, contract and container logistics – BLG Logistics Group (Bremen) is able to give employment guarantee despite difficult conditions to its 15,800 employees working around the globe. “All our jobs are secure this year“, said CEO Detthold Aden at the annual press conference. However the Manager was not able to give a serious outlook for 2009. There are still sectors that show stable development and growth. The Manager stated retail and trade logistics, which is predominated by the customers Tchibo, Ikea and Konica Minolta.

In 2008 BLG Logistics Group achieved peak values. In comparison to the previous year the turnover rose 8.2 per cent to EUR 962.6 million. Earnings before taxes improved by 6.8 per cent to EUR 83.6 million. In the automotive segment 5.7 million vehicles were dispatched (+ 10%). The contract segment recorded a 12%-increase in picks to 180 million goods movements. The container segment, which is controlled by the joint venture Eurogate, showed a 2.3%-increase in volumes to 14.2 million TEU.
