SGKV wins IMS container operator as active member

IMS container operator wants to develop rational approaches for combined transport in Europe together with SGKV members

IMS Cargo Austria GmbH, a container operator based in Vienna, now supports the SGKV in Berlin, a research association for combined transport, as an active member to shape the combined transport in the future.

„As a global company, we are already active in various associations and looking forward, together with the over 100 members of the SGKV, to develop rational approaches for combined transport in Europe.“, Wolfgang Tomassovich, CEO of IMS, is convinced.

Combined transport is a very heterogeneous field of activity, where different opinions and strategies meet. Due to the different interests of transport and their actors there is a need of a neutral and parent platform which helps on a scientific basis, to unit all parties of combined transport in a sustainable transport system.

The objective of the SGKV is to explore a rational combination of in-house, inter-company, national and international transport and transhipment and to promote it in practice. The association promotes the use of combined transport as environmentally friendly mode of transport in terms of environmental protection.

IMS was founded in 1993 as private container operator. As a full service provider with branch offices in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Portugal and global partners, it offers all services related to combined transport. In 2013 the private company with around 100 employees processed a total of about 171,000 TEU and generated turnover of EUR 47 million.
