Significant growth of Damco in the air freight sector

Damco records a growth in air freight volume up to 97,539 tonnes (+14%) and is improving the services to customers

Global freight forwarder and logistics services provider Damco presented the figueres of the first half of 2013 recently. The company reported total revenues of USD 1.531 billion for the first half of this year and a net operating loss after tax of USD 2 million.

The EBITA before special items shrinked slightly to USD 24 million in the first half of 2013, compared to last years USD 34 million. The result was less than Damco anticipated, caused by higher-than-planned costs to strengthen and prepare the organization for the future in a number of the growth markets.

Due to a significant growth in air freight volumes by 14% to 97,539 tonnes the company continues growing. Supply chain management volumes grew by 10% up to 24,769. The sea freight volumes dropped slightly by 1%.

Damco is one of the world’s leading third party logistics providers specialising in customised freight forwarding and supply chain solutions. The company has 11,300 employees in over 300 offices across 90 countries and representation in a further 30 countries and is part of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group. In 2012, the company managed more than 2,7 million TEU of ocean freight and supply chain management volumes and more than 210,000 tonnes of air freight..
