Single wagon-cooperation of DB Schenker Rail Polska and ČD Cargo

DB Schenker Rail Polska and ČD Cargo to launch new singlewagon transport between Poland and the Czech Republic

At the start of the year DB Schenker Rail Polska and ČD Cargo agreed to cooperate in single wagon transport. The basis therefore was the decision of ČD Cargo to establish a connection between their own single wagon network and the Silesian liner train of DB Schenker Rail in Poland. Three weekly train pairs named ‘Moravia’ are now operated between the biggest shunting station in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and the railway station in Sławęcice, Poland.

Introducing the new transport service ‘Moravia’ helps using the potential of the Silesian liner train. Since 2010 the regular transport service for single wagons and wagon groups has been calling many railway stations in the industrial region in southern Poland. Expansion to the Czech Republic further strengthens single wagon traffic in this region. The transport offer addresses mainly customers from the chemicals and steel industry, mainly using single wagon services for their transportations.

“This new rail connection is the result of the consistent implementation of a strategy which profits from Poland’s favourable geographic location, as well as concentrating traffic in the corridors. Moreover this allows us offering our customers an even wider range of innovative, high quality services for small wagon groups and single wagons in Poland“, says Christian Schreyer, CEO DB Schenker Rail Polska.
