Sobering year 2012 for Graz Airport

Following declining air freight volume in 2012 Graz Airport is looking confidently to the near future

Graz Airport had to face a decline in the handling of air freight and air mail in the year 2012. The total volume of 10,120 tonnes was 6.98 per cent below the last year’s figure of the airport of Styria’s capital. The biggest declines were registered last summer. However, a slight uptrend could be seen in the last two months of the year, which put managing director Gerhard Widmann in a positive mood regarding 2013.

“Following several successful years 2012 had been very difficult and sobering for Graz Airport. However, as the comparison with other regional airports in Central Europe shows, we have recognised the situation and took the right action. It is particularly pleasant that the airport succeeded in reaching a good, economic result last year again“, says Wolfgang Malik, CEO Holding Graz.
