Sprenger forwarding becomes a member of Gebrüder Weiss

Gebrüder Weiss reinforces its network in Southern Germany through integration of Sprenger forwarding in Aldingen, Germany

Gebrüder Weiss is closing the year 2012 with a company takeover. The transport and logistics company headquartered in Lauterach, Vorarlberg, is taking over Spedition Sprenger with headquarters in Aldingen, district of Tuttlingen with effect from 1.1.2013. On 7 December representatives of Gebrüder Weiss and the two associates of Sprenger, Robert Sprenger and Georg Dieterle, reached an agreement on the purchase.

The forwarding company Sprenger includes Sprenger-Spedition GmbH and Sprenger International GmbH. The latter is solely responsible for handling international transport. The purchase price has not been disclosed. The location will be immediately integrated into the GW network and the official name change is planned for spring 2013.

“With this targeted investment, we are considerably strengthening our position in Baden-Württemberg. Customers and partners alike will benefit from the even tighter ‘orange network’. The integration will be managed by Roland Gander, the head of our successful Western region,” says Wolfgang Niessner, Gebrüder Weiss CEO. The location will be integrated into the Gebrüder Weiss network as a subsidiary of the Memmingen branch and headed by Georg Dieterle, the previous managing director of Sprenger International GmbH, who will report to Anton Hagg, branch manager GW Memmingen.

Gebrüder Weiss will take over the entire Sprenger staff of 70 employees and complement them with 15 GW employees from Tuttlingen: the company plans to move its staff and the business activities to the location in Aldingen, at a distance of about 20 km.
