St. Petersburg as new destination in the liner network of Finnlines

Finnlines shipping company expands its Bilbao-Antwerp-Helsinki service to St. Petersburg

 

The Helsinki-based shipping company Finnlines integrates the Russian market with a new liner service into its network. At the beginning of this week the enterprise announced in a press release the expansion of their Bilbao-Antwerp-Helsinki link to St. Petersburg. With the liner network of their parent company, the Italian Grimaldi Group, there are connections available to the ports of the Mediterranean Sea, in western Africa and South America.

Finnlines, a leading shipping company for ro-ro and passenger services in the North and Baltic Sea as they state, plans to start operating the expanded routing at the beginning of August 2010. It will be served by three modern ro-ro vessel in the initial stage. The focus lies on the automotive industry as well as on trailer and container business. Finnlines’ CEO Uwe Bakosch sees a big potential in the Russian market. “We feel well prepared to offer a service that meets the special requirements of trade with Russia", he concedes.
