Starting signal for “FRIENDS on the road-tour 2012”
Action of the professional association and groups for the freight transport industry illuminates the importance of road cargo transport
Under the title "FRIENDS on the road: The truck provides what you need every day" the professional association and groups of the freight transport sector will show the importance of road transport for the population in the next seven months. The roadshow specially organised for this purpose is touring all over Austria. First stop is the leisure fair in Klagenfurt (13 to 15 April), followed by the city festival in Graz (2 to 3 June) and Vienna’s Donauinselfest (22 to 24 June). Further stops will be in Linz (17 – 18 August), Oberwart (29 August to 2 September), Dornbirn (5 to 9 September), Salzburg (21 to 22 September) and Innsbruck (3 to 7 October). The final event is scheduled for 26 October in Vienna’s city center.
The core objective of the action is to represent the service range of Austria’s carriers. Moreover the measures of the freight transport industry to protect the environment and the profession of truck drivers will also be presented at the stations. The partners of the roadshow are the Federation of Austrian Industries, ÖAMTC Fahrtechnik as well as the companies DAF, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault Trucks, Scania, Schwarzmüller, Volvo and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
The "FRIENDS on the road"-action is backed by 16.000 carriers and small carriers with approximately 70,000 jobs in Austria. Together the companies operate approximately 11,000 light trucks, 20,000 heavy trucks, 13,000 semi-trailers and 34,000 trailers. The gross investment in the sector amounts to approximately EUR 620 million per year.
