Steel forwarder Koenig expands in southern Germany

Spedition Koenig GmbH, a specialist for long steel products, opens a warehouse location in Nürtingen near Stuttgart:

The forwarder Koenig GmbH enforces their presence in southern Germany. One year after the integration in the Hergarten group of companies, the company complements their distribution network by a location with a siding and good connections to the motorway network in Nürtingen close to Stuttgart. The long steel warehouse for steel products offers 1.500 m2 of heated storage space and a 1.500 m2 open warehouse. It also offers handling facilities, warehousing services and picking of long steel products with a weight of up to 10 tons.

"By opening our new location in Nürtingen we are now also better positioned in the southern German region. Our customers profit from an expanded service range and improved service quality", says Marcel Hergarten, general manager of Koening forwarding. The services offered include daily steel transports and a reliable distribution traffic service between the Ruhr area and southern Germany.

Koenig Spedition GmbH was founded at the location Heilbronn-Sontheim in 1891 and since 1952 it has mainly offered services concerning the transport of long steel goods. Today the company is considered a specialist for long steel transports, steel transports in general, transports of construction steel and special transports. On 1 October the company was integrated into the Hergarten group of companies as independently managed forwarding company.

The parens company is made up of Hergarten GmbH, Hergarten Stahlspedition und Dienstleistungs GmbH and B. Hergarten Stahlspedition GmbH with a total warehousing space of 35.000 m2 in the locations Cologne, Erfurt, Neuss, Neuss-Holzheim, Leverkusen, Altbach and Frankenberg. They annually transport 250.000 consignments with a total weight of more than 750.000 tons. Besides warehousing and transport logistics their core competences include the planing, the development as well as the realisation of outsourcing projects.
