Strong year 2011 for WLB Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH

WLB Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH celebrates the jubilee of five years as a legally independent enterprise in 2012

Business in the financial year 2011 ran like on rails with WLB Wiener Lokalbahnen GmbH. Moving a volume of 3.1 million tons of goods, the 2010 figure was exceeded by 10.7 per cent, as the managers Gerald Retscher and Mag. Christian Hann announce in the interview with the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. According to their statements the main growth drivers were international transportations on foreign rail networks on the one hand, and hinterland container transport between seaports and Austria on the other hand. On behalf of the companies operating branches in the route network of the “Badner Bahn“ between Vienna and Baden, they transported 115,000 tons of goods.

In 2012 WLB Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH celebrates the five-years-jubilee as an legally independent enterprise. Since its spin-off from its former 100%-parent company – the Wiener Lokalbahnen AG – the private rail company providing traction services in national and international rail cargo transport registered rapid growth. Staff has since then been growing to 80 employees. The 2011 annual turnover amounted more than EUR 50 million.
