Substantial declining freight volumes at Vienna Airport
Vienna International Airport feels impact of economic crisis Due to the global financial and economic crisis the Vienna International Airport registered a substantial decline in air freight volumes. In June 19,486 tons of goods were handled (air freight and trucking). Thus the reference figure of the last year was missed by 13.2 per cent, Flughafen Wien AG announced in a press release. The half year report (January to June 2009) shows a goods throughput of 113,763 tons (air freight and trucking). This equals a 15 per cent decline compared to last year. Air passenger volume dropped 12.7 per cent to 8.43 million persons during the first six months. The number of flight movements declined by 10.4 per cent to 119,353 take offs and landings.
