Tank cleaning: Bertschi and Stolt pioneer in Russia

Joint tank cleaning project of Bertschi and Stolt in Russia to start at the location in Nizhnij Novgoord

Bertschi and Stolt, providers of special transport logistic services for liquid goods of the chemicals and petrochemicals industry, opened their first tank cleaning facility according to western standard in Nizhnij Novgorod. The system equipped with two cleaning tracks and four vapour positions to heat box systems is situated directly on a private rail terminal. It is located entirely in box containers and also fit for use in winters with temperatures of minus 40 degree Celsius. After the initial stage the tank cleaning services shall also be available to third party companies.

The location about 400 kilometres east of Moscow was selected due to the chemical production cluster in Niizhnij Novgorod as both operators confirm. This means an enormous potential for return loads in tank containers from Russia, they state in a press release.

Making this investment in Nizhnij Novgorod, Bertschi and Stolt are pioneers in the region Eastern Europe/CIS. In Russia infrastructure for liquid chemical transport is barely developed. There has been no such tank cleaning facility meeting western standards. Tank containers had to be returned empty to Europe or cleaned at a less suitable facility, which meant risks for the return loads and the environment.
