Temperature controlled supply chain specialist snaps up Leicestershire shed

Temperature controlled supply chain specialist Oakland International has taken property investor Logicor’s 225,000 sq ft warehouse in Bardon. Leicestershire.

The warehouse known as 225 at Interlink Bardon has been taken on a 15-year lease and has undergone a £4 million fit out.

It will be used by the company to pack and distribute meal delivery kits for clients as well as dairy products and cooked meats.

Chief executive Dean Attwell said: “One area that has grown for us is direct-to-consumer supplies, working with a lot of brands doing home deliveries of chilled, frozen and ambient parcels.

The Redditch based business was launched in 1998 and has a £40 million turnover, with depots in Corby and Dublin and an office in Worksop, and employs around 600 people.

The new facility has a 213,671 sq ft warehouse as well as 12,019 sq ft of two-storey offices.  It has 58 HGV trailer parking spaces and 174 car parking spaces. In addition it has 12m eaves, 18 dock and four level access doors as well as a 50kn/sqm floor loading.

The new site will open next week and plans to take on 120 workers by the end of September, with a further 60 to 80 by the end of the year.

It mostly deals with perishables such as yogurts and cheeses, ready meals –supplying most of the major retailers – and the rapidly growing recipe box market.
