The HD Group turns to TouchStar for data capture technology

The HD Group, a global provider of freight forwarding and fulfilment solutions, has selected TouchStar’s TS8200 handheld computer to support real-time data capture in its newest facility.

Following the acquisition of a new warehouse in Cheshire, the group decided to install new warehouse management software (WMS) and selected Minster WMS to do this. With data capture playing a key role in the WMS and warehousing operations, an appropriate handheld device needed to be introduced.

For this, Minster recommended the TouchStar TS8200, which the group decided to go with. The HD Group says that the new handhelds will equip warehouse operatives with advanced scanning capability as well as helping identify and track goods within their fulfilment process and capturing accurate stock information. It believes that, together with Minster’s system, this technology from TouchStar ‘will help support an efficient and flexible operation’.

The HD Group’s Chief Executive Kerry Dusi said: “Since the system went live, we are excited by the numerous operational benefits the technology is starting to deliver. The support we have received from both companies so far has been excellent, and we look forward to the potential benefits the system will be able to offer us as we continue to grow our operations.”

The TouchStar TS8200 is a rugged computer, designed for use in ‘harsh and demanding environments’. It features a tough touchscreen and high-impact shock absorbers. As well as the traditional handheld option, it can also be affixed to a glove for situations that benefit from the use of wearable technology.

TouchStar (Stand i406) will be at IntraLogisteX on 28-29 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. For more information, visit www.intralogistex.co.uk.
