Ti appoints Technology Expert to Global Advisory Board

Ti is pleased to announce that Ken Lyon, a respected expert in the supply chain technology sector, is to join its Global Advisory Board with immediate effect.

Ken has a track record spanning over 30 years in this area with experience that includes developing global technology strategies through to analysis and advice regarding existing IT capabilities.

Ken’s expertise will enable Ti to offer customers an expanded range of research and consultancy services to those which it presently provides to the supply chain and logistics industry.

According to Ken, over the past two decades, technology capabilities have become a critical competitive factor for service suppliers and operators. In parallel, technology itself has transformed at a staggering rate and as a result, has also transformed the way we live.

"The global transportation giants have had the resources to make enormous investments in technology and continue to do so," he commented. "But most other companies without access to similar levels of capital have had to make smaller, wiser investments, hoping they have made the correct choices. Consequently, more than ever there is a need for opinion, guidance and strategic advice."

John Manners-Bell, Ti’s CEO, welcomed Ken to Ti’s Strategic Advisory Board. "Up to now, we at TI have only commented on technology when it touches other areas we cover, but we now feel it is appropriate to expand our capabilities in this area. Our plan is to develop our technology research function rapidly and to enable this we have established a relationship with someone who is a respected authority concerning the impact of technology on the logistics industry."

Over the past few years Ken has helped to establish and develop start-ups concerned with supply chain visibility, analytics and online container shipping services. Before that, he spent ten years as a Director and VP of information services at UPS, also helping to establish its logistics and supply chain solutions group.  Ken advises clients in the areas of supply chain risk, and potential effects of global terrorism on supply chain operations. He has also developed advanced information solutions for Government agencies in the US, South East Asia and elsewhere.
