Toll to acquire mining services provider for A$110m

Toll Group has agreed to acquire Mitchell Corp, a major supplier of transport and logistics services to and from mining sites in Western Australia, for A$110 million.

The acquisition is subject to clearance by the competition regulator.

Mitchells provides transport services in the bulk resources, hydrocarbons and dangerous goods market segments. Toll’s Global Resources division services the oil & gas, iron ore and coal industries in Australia and Asia.

Toll Group managing director Paul Little said the would be an important part of Tolls‘ Global Resources division, providing Toll with a strong base in Western Australia’s resources market and complimenting Toll’s mining services operations in other states as well as creating service opportunities for other Toll businesses.

In other news, Bechtel Oil, Gas & Chemicals has awarded Toll Global Resources a contract for dedicated ro-ro vessels between Gladstone and Curtis Island to support the construction of the QCLNG Project by BG subsidiary, QGC.

The 56-month contract will require two dedicated ro-ro vessels during the peak period of the project.

This contract award is part of Toll Global Resources‘ long-term strategy to expand its marine activity in Australian waters through its operating business, Toll Marine Logistics, by specifically focusing on resource sector customers.

Toll Global Resources is also on the shortlist to build, own and operate Darwin’s proposed Marine Supply Base (MSB), which will provide space for rig tenders supplying offshore oil and gas activities in the fast growing development area from the Arafura Sea through to the Browse Basin.
