TomTom-innovation for navigation of trucks
TomTom Work, the B2B-division of TomTom, announced the market introduction of a truck-navigation solution that offers particular route informations for trucks. This includes informations about heights and weight limits. The software includes new routing algorithms that allow truck drivers to avoid passing small, inner-city routes and close residential areas. Moreover the software takes typical truck-speed rates into consideration, in order to offer realistic expected arrival times to the drivers. Based on vehicle parameters such as dimension, axis and total weight, the software calculates ideal routes and helps to avoid obstacles that could delay the transport process. The solution is available as optional accessory on a SD-card, which allows an inexpensive upgrade. The SD-card is delivered including maps for Central and Western Europe; the truck navigation is available for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux and Great Britain.
