Towne Air Freight acquires HBI Freight

Towne Air Freight has acquired HBI Freight, one of the largest full-service air cargo and home delivery trucking companies on the US eastern seaboard.

Towne will integrate HBI into its nationwide operation, further strengthening the company’s presence in the air and ocean freight sector.

Dedicated to serving the air cargo community for more than 25 years, HBI is a strategic addition to Towne’s portfolio, bringing nearly 200 employees along with widespread pickup and delivery service into the coast-to-coast trucking network.

The transaction will offer Towne customers more reliable and comprehensive service along the East Coast, and give HBI customers access to a nationwide network from a single source provider.

Newly added facilities in Harrisburg (Pennsylvania), Norfolk and Richmond (Virginia) will boost both linehaul and local cartage coverage throughout the mid-Atlantic states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina and the entire state of Virginia.

Towne will now own facilities in the major airport markets of Baltimore (Maryland), Washington DC, and Raleigh-Durham (North Carolina), which were previously served by an agent.

Following an initial transition period, HBI will operate under the Towne Air Freight name as early as mid-December.

HBI Freight specialises in expedited ground, linehaul, customs-bonded shipments, warehousing, and logistics, as well as value added services such as pickup and delivery, white glove delivery and installation.

Towne Air Freight provides air, ocean and expedited freight services to more than sixty airport locations across the US, while Towne Network Solutions manages airfreight trucking in North America for airlines and freight forwarders.
