trans-o-flex commissioned 81 temperature controlled trailers

Since the demand for the actively temperature-controlled shipment of pharmaceuticals continues to increase strongly, trans-o-flex has ordered 81 new trailers with a certified pharma standard. The first of these special refrigerated trailers are already in operation and can be recognised by the new trans-o-flex design. The purchase of the trailers constitutes a further investment of several millions of euros.

The Krone Cool Liner Pharma is a three-axle refrigerated trailer with roller shutters. Numerous data loggers have been installed at precisely calculated points of the vehicle body and serve to continuously monitor and document the temperature and temperature distribution inside.

“In order to comply with the pharma standard, we attached great importance to high insulation, a homogenous temperature distribution as well as special hygiene requirements in the material selection and processing“, says Wolfgang P. Albeck, CEO of trans-o-flex.

The pharma standard was certified by the specialist service provider Pharmaserv. In addition to this, the trailers have also been awarded the international EIPL certificate issued by the European Institute for Pharma Logistics (EIPL) with its focus on knowledge transfer and services at the interface between the pharmaceutical and the logistic industries.

An example of the high standard is the double protection during the transmission of the temperature data: normally, the temperature data taken in the trailer is fed into the trans-o-flex system by means of data radio transmission. In addition to this, the temperature control unit is also connected to a printer which, in case the data connection is interrupted, records the temperature during the entire transport, thus preventing gaps in the temperature curve due to interference in the radio transmission.
