Turnaround in air cargo at Vienna airport

Good second six months let air freight volume grow at the Vienna International Airport in 2013

Vienna airport returned to a path of growth in air cargo throughput in 2013. Cargo followed a weak start into the year with growth of 10% during the second six months and closed 2013 with a year-on-year increase of 1.6 per cent to 256,194 tonnes. Pure air cargo increased 0.5 per cent to 178,857 tonnes, while trucking was 4.2 per cent higher at 77,336 tonnes.

Julian Jäger, member of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG: “The Vienna airport has also felt the difficult market environment in the aviation industry in 2013. However, there has been a slight improvement in traffic, cargo and the number of passengers since the middle of last year.”
