TX Logistik moves on the fast lane in the intermodal segment

European network pays off: Private cargo railway TX Logistik saw a strong growth in container units transported in 2013

The TX Logistik group pursues its course of growth. In the 2013 financial year the private railway enterprise reported turnover of EUR 232 million, which is more than a 10 per cent increase year-on-year. For 2014, the management has set further growth as a target – among other things percentage increase of intermodal transport shall rise by a double-digit figure.

„Initially the first half of the year has not developed easily,“ says Frank Lehner, CEO TX Logistik. „This was mainly the result of cyclical, hesitant contract negotiations with the customer, but also of weather-related adverse effects on railway operations.“ With a strong double-digit growth in the second half of the year this could be offset. Frank Lehner: „In intermodal transport both turnover and the number of the units handled have increased by a double-digit percentage compared to the previous year.“

Maritim, the segment dealing with container transport from the seaports to the hinterland and back, reported an increase in TEU of more than 15 per cent on 2012. This increase was mainly resulting from the routes from Rotterdam and increases in the core network of boxXpress relations. The automotive sector, the transportation of finished vehicles in the shipping ports, also showed increases.

In the conventional traffic TX Logistik profited from winning new business and at the same time disposal of uneconomic coal and steel freight traffic. In addition, the company has significantly increased the efficiency of freight car management, which was a sustainable benefit for all business segments.

„One explanation for this positive development is our European network. Our customers – this just includes the road transport forwarders – appreciate this as well as our neutrality as a supplier,“ emphasises Frank Lehner. More success factors are the priority of quality and the ability to respond quickly when problems arise.

TX Logistik, headquartered in Bad Honnef, was founded in 1999 as a private railway transport companies and runs a powerful European network. Since March 2011, the enterprise with around 455 employees, is a 100 per cent company of Trenitalia, a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello stato.
