Unitcargo wins Swedish economic prize 2014

Unitcargo forwarding generates one third of its annual turnover in Sweden; plans to open a branch in Sweden before the end of this year

Unitcargo Speditions Ges.m.b.H was awarded the Swedish economic prize 2014 in the middle of this week. The Swedish ambassador in Vienna presented the prize for the most successful Austrian SME with relations to Sweden in the frame of a ceremony.

The Swedish chamber of commerce in Austria, Business Sweden and the Swedish embassy in Austria are awarding the economic prize of the Swedish chamber of commerce once per year. The prize is aimed to promote the economic relations between Austria and Sweden, and is awarded in three categories: most successful Austrian company with relations to Sweden, most successful Austrian SME with relations to Sweden and manager of the year.

“The Unitcargo Speditionsgesellschaft mbH forwarding company is awarded the Swedish economic prize for small and medium enterprises. Founded in 2004 the company employs today 43 persons, which means the size of the company has tripled. Annual turnover amounted to EUR 21 million in 2013, meaning continuous growth in turnover in proportion ti the number of employees. The company is currently preparing to open a subsidiary in Sweden and is an outstanding example of successful business activity with Swedish partners, making it the perfect winner of this year’s economic prize,“ says Johan Eliasson, President of the Swedish chamber of commerce in Vienna.

Unitcargo has a broad customer portfolio in Sweden and generates one thid of its turnover in this country. Therefore, Unitcargo plans to open a branch in Sweden before the end of this year. The new location will be an important part of the company’s service and growth strategy.

“The positive market development in Northern Europe has been an important argument for us to establish our own branch in Sweden, to better serve local customers,” says Davor Sertic, managing director Unitcargo-group. Establishing Unitcargo Sweden the group has now six locations throughout Europe.

International transport logistics forms the core business of the Unitcargo forwarding company, established in 2004. As a niche player the forwarding company has been specialising in the corridor from Scandinavia to Central and Southeastern Europe. The company manages more than 14,500 truck trips per year within the European Union and in the Near East. In addition to the headquarters in Vienna there are branches in Slovakia, Turkey, Bulgaria and now also in Romania. As to 2014 Unitcargo plans to establish a branch in Sweden.

In total the private company has about 40 employees and can look back on a fast economic development. In the 2013 financial year the group achieved a turnover of EUR 21.5 million.
