viadonau officially opened new service center in Aschach

In recent years, viadonau has been bundling more and more actions for the Upper Austrian Danube section in Aschach. In order to meet the increasing demands, a new service center for the Upper Danube Valley was built in the last 12 months, with a grand opening on 4 May.

With the innovatively designed administration building, viadonau employees are provided with up-to-date office workstations. “In addition, the arrival of the maritime supervisory authority Engelhartszell results in optimal conditions for on-site cooperation and coping with the manifold tasks on the river”, reads a press release.

“The Danube is a growing economic hub – ecologically sensible and of great importance for the business location of Upper Austria. The viadonau team stands for a highly professional and uncomplicated way of working and this is always in the interest of the general public,” explained Günther Steinkellner.

Gerhard Gürtlich, BMVIT Head of Section, emphasised in his statement the strengthening of the Danube waterway as one of the most important traffic routes. The location of the waterway company viadonau and the maritime supervisory authority stand for an exemplary bundling of synergies.

For viadonau’s Managing Director Hans-Peter Hasenbichler, the improved working environment created by the new service center is crucial for optimum work on and for the Danube: “It now turns out that it was the right decision to carry out the tasks of viadonau along the entire route in Austria.” The new building will provide a modernisation boost that will be continued in the coming years.

viadonau, a company of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology, has more than 250 employees at the headquarters in the Tech Gate Vienna, at four service centers and ten locks along the 378 kilometers of river in Austria, to look after the natural landscape and the Danube waterway. The goal is the careful and sustainable development of the Danube’s ecologic and economic area.
