Viking charges Wincanton with operation of the European central warehouse

Wincanton has completed the start-up period of the logistics terminal Strasbourg for the Austrian producer of garden devices Viking

The Austrian producer of garden devices Viking – a company of the globally active STIHL group – and the European contract logistician Wincanton completed the start-up period of the new European central warehouse in Straßburg.

Having put into operation the new 17,000 m² logistics terminal, the two companies entered the next stage of their cooperation. The decision for this investment is based on the planned expansion of the portfolio and a positive business development of Viking GmbH.

The central warehouse in Straßburg forms the sole distribution platform for direct delivery of specialist shops in 15 European countries. Viking with its headquarters in Kufstein produces and distributes lawn mowers, ride-on mowers, robot mowers, garden shredders, lawn scarifiers and tillers. “Specialised traders can now profit from faster reactions and more reliability in handling“, they state in a press release.

Wincanton has been Viking’s logistics partner since 2005. The strong growth in the past years caused warehousing and logistics capacities to reach their limits. “The new, expanded central warehouse supports also our successful growth course in logistic demands“, says Peter Pretzsch, managing director Viking GmbH.
