Wain Estates targets 1 million ft² Northwest industrial and logistics scheme

Wain Estates is looking to redevelop the former Shell petrochemical site in Carrington in the Northwest as a 1 million ft²  industrial and logistics hub.

The 78-acre site known as The Junction will also include 17-acres of open storage space as well as significant environmental improvements with extensive native tree and shrub planting, new and varied habitat creation, as well as investment into sustainable transport links with new footpaths and dedicated cycle ways.

Carrington Estate managing director, Jack Brister said: “It is an exciting and complex project with many phases and we are pleased to submit this application for The Junction which will help meet the continued demand for high quality, easily accessible, energy efficient, and sustainable logistics and industrial space.
The scheme will be able to accommodate warehouses up to 500,000ft² with indicative plans proposing two large scale buildings and a third, smaller unit all accessed from a new entrance on Isherwood Road.

The proposals will target net zero. A planning application for The Junction has been lodged with Trafford Borough Council and, if approved, construction could begin end of 2023/2024.
