Wein u. Co now uses DPD wine logistics also internationally

DPD Austria’s wien logistics registers a continuous increase of international dispatch

DPD Austria’s dispatch solutions for the wine industry is becoming more and more popular. It is the international business that is continuously growing in particular. Whereas the export rate was quite low when wine logistics was introduced in the year 1996, 30 per cent of all wine parcels are currently sent to recipients abroad. The major destinations are Germany and Austria’s other neighbouring countries.

Having used national dispatch services solely so far, the trading house Wein & Co is now a new international customer the parcel service has won. THe winery Scheiblhofer in Burgenland has been cooperating with DPD Austria for ten years.

In the year 2009 DPD Austria dispatched 3.78 per cent more wine parcels than in the previous year. The biggest increases were registered in parcels containing one bottle of wine and magnum bottles. This trend is to be continued in 2010. Until now 48 per cent more single parcels and about 15 per cent more magnum bottles were sent compared to 2009. "We assume the economic crisis to be the crucial factor therefore. However this did not affect us", reflects Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director of DPD Austria GmbH.
