WWL and Rolf SCS plan to form a joint venture in Russia

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and Logistician Rolf SCS about to close ranks in terminal business

The ro-ro shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and Rolf SCS, a subsidiary of the Russian Rolf group, which is active in the automotive business, are about to implement a far-reaching closing of ranks. They plan to join their forces at the ro-ro and automotive terminals in Kotka (Finland) and at the Russian seaports St. Petersburg and Vostochny in the form of a joint venture. This shall bring more flexibility and options for international vehicle manufacturers when importing cars and ro-ro freight to Russia and the neighbouring CIS-countries. After the agreement of the competent committee the common enterprise shall start operating in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Rolf SCS is by its own account a leading provider of logistics services in Russia. The core activity is serving customers from the automotive industry. Their portfolio comprises vehicle and spare parts distribution as well as logistics services in the fields of warehousing, port logistic and rail transport.

With a current investment program Rolf SCS optimises its supply chain services for the automotive industry. Until now they signed contracts with the ports of St. Petersburg (Petrolseport) and Nakhodka (Vostochny), and opened a distribution hub in St. Petersburg as well as a terminal in Naberazhnye Chelny.
