10 years jubilee of LogServ’s rail academy

LogServ’s rail academy ensures quality of internal training and is a well-established training institution of railway staff for more than 70 customers

The foundation of the rail academy in 2004 was based on a clear mission: LogServ with headquarters in Linz was in need for more locomotive drivers, in particular for transports on the route of the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways). At that time training started for employees from the shunting pool for radio locomotive drivers and locomotive drivers for regular routes.

Today LogServ’s rail academy is an important service provider for internal training as well as for customer requirements in this segment. It is a well established training institution for railway staff throughout Austria.

Three years after its foundation the course was set for enhanced services: The quality of locomotive drivers for regular routes and locomotive drivers was developed with the aid of simulators. Since the end of 2007 four mobile units are used therefore – and can hence be used to offer this service also externally.

Another decisive feature of the rail academy trainings is the current adjustment to operational rules and specifications of operational units: a service for the benefit of the professional association of track railways, as well as for all private railway enterprises driving on the ÖBB network.

An increasing amount of tasks, new trainings and finally also external participants also led to personnel developments at the rail academy. Today the team consists of six full-time employees, supported by twelve rotational instructors from the company. While in March 2009 the rail academy posted turnover of EUR 300,000, this sum has more than tripled until today.
