60 more bulk containers for Montan Spedition

Montan Spedition enlarges its container fleet by equipment for transport of materials with high moisture content

Enlarging the container fleet and developing new transport boxes Montan Spedition, based in Kapfenberg in Upper Styria, strives for further growth. Following the takeover of a new series of 100 units in spring 2010 the container fleet is currently expanded by 60 more bulk boxes. “The new equipment is completely made of steel and thus ideally suited for intermodal transport of material with high moisture content. This is a real enhancement of our product range“, says Managing Director Karl Thaller. “The steel floor and smooth steel walls allow clean unloading of these products by tilting. This avoids such material freezes on the floor particularly in winter,” he adds. The expansions made the acquisition of new tilting chassis necessary.

Moreover the upper Styrian enterprise has launched two innovative container development projects. A completely new designed type of container that can be loaded and unloaded from both sides shall help to shift typical truck business in combined transport to the railway. Thereby the latest findings of material research and optimised construction methods are used. As for the second project a preliminary study shall investigate the utilisation options of a new, revolutionary container system to reduce possible empty trips of containers. After the examination of the technical feasibility and the economical use, it is planned to produce a prototype of such a transport box.
