600 jobs at risk at House of Fraser, says union

More than 600 workers at the House of Fraser distribution centres at Wellingborough and Milton Keynes have been warned that their jobs are at risk, according to the GMB union.

The two sites are run by XPO which is in dispute with the new owner of HoF, Sports Direct. As a result, no work has been done at the sites although staff have been turning up for work and are being paid.

Last week HoF cancelled all online orders and agreed to refund customers.

The GMB said 627 members of staff were put on a 45 day consultation from Friday 17th August.

GMB organiser Alan Costello said: “There are more than 600 people desperately worrying about their futures and how they’re going to be able to put food on the table for their families. GMB will be fighting hard to ensure members are treated fairly and to save as many jobs as possible.”
